Valerie Hamilton, RN, MHA, JD

Valerie has had wide-ranging healthcare industry experience over the last 20 years. She began her career as a clinician, working as a registered nurse in critical care areas in various hospital settings, as well as in research studies at a large academic medical center. Valerie’s time in direct patient care allowed her to see firsthand how health policy decisions translate into practice. This insight prompted her to return to graduate school, after which Valerie obtained a breadth of healthcare experience in practice management, healthcare quality and accreditation, risk management, and compliance. She has conducted reviews and analyses on a wide range of topics, including malpractice, drug diversion, and Medicare compliance.
At Compass, Valerie conducts policy analysis, including legislative and regulatory reviews. Valerie holds an M.H.A. from the Division of Health Services Management and Policy and a J.D. from Moritz College of Law at The Ohio State University. She received her B.A. in psychology, also from The Ohio State University, and she holds certifications in corporate wellness and health privacy and security.
